Contiki turns dreams into a reality for Gen-Z travel lovers on Pinterest

Many dream of travelling the world, but not everyone wants to undertake the daunting task of planning and booking an international trip. That’s where Contiki comes in. The tour company creates social travel opportunities for people aged 18 to 35, offering worldwide adventures curated by travel experts. 

​As COVID travel restrictions loosened, Contiki was looking to find a new audience for their European summer trips. Since Pinterest specialises in inspiration and discovery, it was the ideal platform for Contiki to find highly-motivated and highly-organised Gen-Z travel lovers. In the lead up to their peak summer travel season, Contiki partnered with Pinterest with the goal of boosting sales and saw jaw-dropping results.

Making travel dreams come true

Contiki recognised that Pinterest users are enthusiastic about making their dream trips a reality. By placing inspiring static and video ads encouraging people to make life-long memories, Contiki connected with Pinterest users and saw a significant ROAS.1 

Contiki aligns their measurement to the Pinterest user path to purchase. Knowing that Pinners come early in their purchase journey and are more considered with the discovery, curation and purchase process, Contiki were able to measure their conversions with a longer lookback window.

Contiki’s goal was an ambitious 10x ROAS.1 They met their goal in just three weeks and went on to surpass it with an overall ROAS of 18.34x.1 During their 20% off sale, they reached an astonishing 30x+ ROAS.1

Not only did Contiki exceed their sales goals by 80%1, they also successfully drove engagement and consideration amongst Pinterest users, achieving a CPCV that was 54% lower than the travel vertical benchmark.3

Contiki quickly moved from a test-and-learn advertiser to an always-on advertiser. The brand plans to utilise Idea Ads to stay top-of-mind for Pinterest users planning to book their next Euro trip.
