Goal

As a long-standing Pinterest partner, Nordic fashion retailer Ellos has consistently pushed the boundaries of what's possible in e-commerce advertising. Their years of collaboration with Pinterest have been marked by continuous innovation and optimisation—always seeking new ways to connect their fashion and lifestyle products with engaged shoppers.

When Ellos needed to prioritise efficiency in Q3 2024, they once again turned to Pinterest as a partner to help them optimise cost efficiency while still driving meaningful sales results. The newly posed question was: could Pinterest's new AI-powered Performance+ shopping campaigns deliver even better efficiency than their existing Pinterest strategy?

Strategy

To put Performance+ to the test, Ellos designed a rigorous A/B split test comparing Performance+ shopping campaigns against their standard shopping campaigns. They laid a strong foundation with resilient Conversions API implementation and healthy product feeds to ensure accurate measurement and a strong Pinterest presence.

The test ran for six weeks, targeting adults 18+ across both prospecting and retargeting audiences. By using Pinterest's native A/B testing tool, they could directly compare performance between the two approaches (Performance+ vs Non-Performance+) while keeping all other variables constant.

Results

The test results definitively proved that Performance+ shopping campaigns helped deliver the efficiency gains Ellos was looking for. Performance+ helped drive 32% more click-through checkout conversions compared to standard campaigns, while improving cost-per-acquisition (CPA) by 18%1. Overall checkout volume increased by 19%, and perhaps most importantly, Ellos saw a 25% increase in last-click revenue in their own third-party analytics2.
