Back to basics

Quality basics are a must for every closet, but this season we’re seeing a spike in natural materials and neutral colors. Searches for faux leather earrings (40x year over year), white denim skirt outfits (1.5x year over year) and black crop tops (5x year over year) are all rising to the top of Pinner’s searches—and their closets!

Take it inside

Closets aren’t the only space going neutral and natural—so is the rest of the house. More and more people are looking for organic ways to bring nature inside, with saves for white subway tiles (5x year over year), gender neutral nurseries (8x year over year) and monstera plants (2x year over year) all raising the roof.

Head-turning looks

Bold beauty is making a statement right now. And it’s not surprising. With the temperatures slowly dropping, people are looking for ways to keep their look vibrant. Searches for primary color nails have grown 37x year over year, while layered bob haircuts and fresh shoulder-length hairstyles are both seeing serious growth (2x year over year and 20x year over year, respectively).

Make it yours

To keep things personal (and avoid device mixups), people on Pinterest are looking for ways to customize their tech and gear. Enter: hydro flask stickers (14x year over year), laptop stickers (15x year over year), cell phone wallpaper (14x year over year) and phone backgrounds containing quotes (1.5x year over year).

Mind, body and soul

Say goodbye to cracked, chapped skin! People on Pinterest are looking for ways to keep their summer glow (and state of mind) all season long. Jade rollers (5x year over year), epsom salts and bubble baths (3.5x year over year) are all making a splash this month.

Homegrown hobbies

This fall people have their eye on all things hand-crafted. We’re seeing lots of love for digital painting tutorials (34x year over year), fleece tie blankets (24x year over year), woven recycled jean rugs (2x year over year) and unicorn spit furniture (2x year over year). That’s right, unicorn spit furniture is officially a thing—and we’re seeing this magical stain on everything from glass to wood!

Work these trends into your next campaign to reach people while they’re making decisions. Some ideas to get you started:

  • Make a splash with soothing bath and beauty accessories. Try to work a beauty angle into your campaign this October: think about skin hydration, exfoliating masks and bronzers. Not in the beauty industry? Come up with creative, light touch ways to help keep people in the summer state of mind.

  • Interest people looking to stand out from the crowd by offering branded stickers and digital backgrounds for phones and laptops.

  • In the furniture industry? Make it easy for people to explore the rainbow by showing them how to apply unicorn spit stain to furniture both old and new.
