During the longest days of the year, Pinners are all about capturing the light. Pastel yellow is perking up interiors, with searches up 73% year over year (YoY). Food painting (+63% YoY) for both DIY projects and decorating combines highlights and shadows to make crave-worthy delicacies. Also in the spotlight this month are luminous white gardens that glow in the moonlight (+167% YoY).

This month in food, Pinners are adding new spin to a few classics. Bubble waffles (+55% YoY) are swell for breakfast, ice-cream cones and sandwich wraps. Searches for ye olde medieval recipes are up 27% YoY, making us want to drink mead from a horn. Just when we thought this cocktail couldn’t get any better, a cooling trend has brought us the frozen Moscow mule (+134% YoY). We’re not complaining.

Summer is the time for laid-back, minimalist style. This month, Pinners are looking for easy claw-clip hair styles (+63% YoY), strapping on barely-there sandals (+41% YoY) and lightening the load with dainty bracelet handbags (+150% YoY) that have just enough room for the essentials.

  • Australia: Australians are banging on about bangle bracelets this month, with searches up a huge 642% year over year. 

  • Canada: We’re seeing a late frost this summer in Canada, where the hottest color for bold tresses is cool gray. Searches for silver hair highlights have spiked 647% YoY.

  • France: Melted cheese, tiny pepperoni, fresh herbs: what’s not to love? Bite-sized, low-carb zucchini pizzas are rounding out menus in France, where searches are up 47% YoY.

  • Germany: Germans are turning heads, working up a sweat and firming up those abs with Russian twists, pumping searches up 44% YoY. 

  • UK: Neon nails are brightening up cloudy summer days in the UK, pointing to an impressive 480% YoY increase in searches. 

  • US: The US is so hot and cold these days, sending searches for jalapeno frozen margaritas up 139% year over year—just in time for those outdoor Fourth of July parties.
