Shopping stats: People Pin in a buying state-of-mind
  • Share
  • At Pinterest, we talk to businesses every day, and one question that comes up is, “How can Pinterest work for me?” There are tons of ways Pinterest can help your business grow, but here’s one key way: people don’t just come to Pinterest to browse—they come to Pinterest to buy

To help you better understand what shopping behavior looks like on Pinterest, we worked with Shopify, a commerce platform that’s home to over 160K stores. According to Shopify:
    • Pinterest is the second largest source of traffic to Shopify stores
    • On average, Pinners spend $50 per order—this is higher than orders that come from Facebook and Twitter
    • Shopify merchants have seen orders from Pinterest on mobile devices increase by 140% in the last two years
Want to go beyond the stats and go a little deeper? See how these Shopify stores have found success on Pinterest:

In the last 30 days, Pinterest helped this children’s shop increase their mobile traffic by double digits. “We know Pinterest is a valuable channel for us because Pinners are open to discovering new brands. Our Pinterest campaign has one of the highest buyer conversions (buyer/email signups) amongst our paid channels,” says Christine Shimizu, VP of Marketing.

MVMT has noticed that Pinterest accounts for 10% of all their site traffic and 20% of their mobile traffic—not only that, but these Pinners’ sessions on their site are 1600% longer than their average visitor. “Pinterest has consistently averaged our highest Average Order Value than any other social channel,” said Jake Kassan, Co-founder and CEO.
