Goal

Sofology, one of the UK’s leading sofa retailers, aimed to optimise their ad spend, ensuring both significant value and quantifiable results from their investments. With home furnishings shoppers actively seeking inspiration on Pinterest, Sofology wanted to reach audiences at the moment they were considering their next living room upgrade.

Recognising Pinterest’s power for product discovery and shopping, Sofology set out to supercharge its ROI by optimising budget and bidding for measurable checkout outcomes.

Strategy

Sofology tested the waters with Pinterest Performance+ ROAS bidding by running an A/B test to compare its impact on shopping ads. One campaign used Pinterest Performance+ with ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) bidding, focusing on driving the highest possible checkout values to maximise ROAS. The other campaign centred on conversion optimisation, aiming to achieve the maximum number of conversion actions. To rigorously evaluate performance, Sofology ran an A/B test—changing only this single variable—to directly compare the impact of ROAS bidding versus traditional conversion optimisation on shopping ads.

By leveraging Pinterest Performance+ ROAS bidding,  this advanced feature enabled the campaign to automatically optimise placements in real time, prioritising conversions and spend efficiency. By letting Pinterest’s machine learning models continuously refine delivery, the team could focus on creative strategy while the platform worked behind the scenes to help drive higher value outcomes.

This AI-enabled data-driven approach enabled Sofology to capitalise on Pinterest’s audience of home design enthusiasts, ensuring the budget was directed where it could help deliver the greatest return.
