The top trends for December 2018

People are cooking up ideas for twists on traditional favourites. Searches for burrito casseroles (+89% YoY), cake cookies (+126% YoY) and mochi (+59% YoY) are all heating up in the kitchen.

Take a shelfie

This year, the elf-on-the-shelf has a new favourite place to sit. Searches for open wardrobes have soared all year, and are climbing especially high for December. In all, searches are up 729% this year.

Try this on for size

This season, women are wishing for style favourites like jumper and skirt combos (+181% YoY), Chelsea boots (+51% YoY) and stylish trench coats (+77% YoY). And for men, wide-leg jeans (+166% YoY) are making the cut.

 

Handmade at home

Sometimes, the best gifts are the ones that can’t be bought. As people take to their crafting benches, searches for photo-montage (+50% YoY), smoke art (+104% YoY) and cardboard art (+93% YoY) are all seeing massive crowd appeal. 'Made with love' tags not included.
 

Everything that glitters is gold

Though it may seem early, the ho-ho-holidays mean that awards season is just one month away, and more people than ever before are looking for ways to roll out the red carpet for their viewing party guests. Searches for red-carpet party ideas are up 255% YoY.
