Vueling tapped high-intent travellers with impactful ads that guided users from inspiration to action.

Goal

Vueling, an airline that connects travellers to destinations across Europe, set out to connect with new audiences at new heights. With an overarching goal to drive incremental bookings for Easter 2025, the marketing team aimed to boost visibility and consideration—particularly among French adults aged 25–54 exploring summer getaways. Their focus: reaching leisure travellers early in the discovery phase, when ideas are bubbling and inspiration is top of mind.

Pinterest offered the ideal setting : from saving dream destinations to comparing options, users turn to Pinterest to map out future getaways—long before decisions are locked in. It gave Vueling direct access to travellers in that high-intent, early planning mindset, while also enabling inspiring visual storytelling at scale. And with smart targeting tools in place, the brand was able to show up at just the right moment—when inspiration was ready to “take off” into action. 

Strategy

To capture this intent and turn inspiration into bookings, Vueling launched a one-month campaign in March 2025—timed to reach travellers right as Easter plans were taking shape. The strategy combined immersive formats, smart audience targeting and consistent messaging to guide people from discovery to decision.

Vueling adopted a full-funnel approach, combining Standard and Video Pins with two high-impact Premiere Spotlight takeovers and an Editorial Week Moment titled Votre check-list de voyage. These placements were designed to help maximise reach and engagement at key planning moments across the user journey. To further strengthen delivery and optimize results, the team also tapped into Pinterest Performance+, unlocking Pinterest’s advanced automation to help reach the right audience at the right time with the right creative.

Visually rich, travel-led creatives brought sunny destinations, relaxing escapes and cultural getaways to life. With a clear focus on “French summer vibes,” the campaign delivered inspiring visuals and prompts like “Plan your summer” to guide users from dreaming to doing. Direct links within the Pins made it easy for travellers to click through and explore flights—creating a clear path from inspiration to conversion. Messaging and design were kept consistent throughout, creating a seamless experience from first impression to site visit.

Interest and keyword targeting also helped Vueling engage users actively searching for summer travel ideas, while retargeting and lookalike audiences extended the campaign’s reach to those already showing strong intent—paving the way for measurable results.

Results

Vueling’s campaign delivered measurable impact across the funnel, turning early planning moments into real travel intent.

Video content resonated especially well. Standard video ads achieved a 68% video completion rate, while high-impact Premiere Spotlight placements delivered a 52% completion rate—highlighting strong engagement across both brand and performance touch points.

The campaign’s Editorial Week activation also stood out. In just two days of sponsorship, Votre check-list de voyage generated millions of article impressions—a +227% uplift compared to the daily average. Article opens saw a similar spike, with a +197% increase during those spotlighted days.

Audiences delivered above expectations. Both Travel and Pinterest Performance+ audiences outperformed benchmarks, thanks to a well-balanced budget split and strategic targeting. 

Overall, the campaign drove visibility, video views and high-quality engagement—keeping Vueling top of mind as Easter travel plans took shape. It attracted new customers and sparked fresh connections worldwide… whether in flight or in the click of a Pin.
